On the record: where I stand
Green Belt
Green Belt surrounds Beaconsfield. I’ve asked the council in public what its strategy is for protecting it, and I’ll keep fighting for it.
Where I stand
Beaconsfield is surrounded by precious Green Belt, with the Chilterns Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty on our doorstep, and I will do absolutely everything I can to protect them. When the Government’s changes brought in “grey belt”, I went into the technical detail at the Growth, Infrastructure and Housing Select Committee, down to footnote level: which parcels would lose their protection, and how robust is the council’s methodology? We need full transparency on how many hectares could be lost. I am pressing the council to exhaust every brownfield option first. I will keep making the case for our Green Belt at every stage, and make sure your voice is heard.

What is grey belt, and why does Jackson Ng question it?
Grey belt is a new planning definition that can allow some Green Belt land to be considered for development. Jackson Ng has called it “fundamental in determining whether new housing developments are being built” and has pushed Buckinghamshire Council to test how robust its definitions are. In March 2026 he asked what the council's strategy is for protecting the parcels of Green Belt that would lose their protection.

How did Jackson Ng vote on the Government's planning (NPPF) changes?
On 18 September 2024 Jackson Ng voted for Buckinghamshire Full Council's motion opposing the Government's changes to the National Planning Policy Framework, which also asked the Leader to write to MPs asking them to vote against the changes. The motion was carried by 83 votes to 5, with 13 abstentions. He voted against an amendment that would have replaced its wording.
