On the record: where I stand
Housing & the Local Plan
Buckinghamshire has been set a 95,500-home target by the Labour Government. My question is always the same: where is the infrastructure to match it?
What I’ve said about housing and the Local Plan Raise this with Jackson
Where I stand
The Labour Government has set Buckinghamshire a target of 95,500 new homes, with not a penny for infrastructure: no school places, no GP capacity, no road improvements. Our infrastructure simply cannot cope. In committee I have challenged the housing formula, which does not reflect Buckinghamshire’s actual demographic picture, and taken up residents’ call for an independent demographic analysis. I have asked the council to put a figure in pounds on the funding gap and to press the Government to close it. Infrastructure investment has to match the expansion. I will keep scrutinising the Local Plan in detail and challenging its assumptions at every stage.

Questions people ask
What does Jackson Ng think of Buckinghamshire's 95,500-home target?
Jackson Ng has described the 95,500 new homes as imposed on Buckinghamshire by the Labour Government “with not a penny for infrastructure. No school places, no GP capacity, no road improvements.” He has said “our infrastructure simply cannot cope” and that the assumptions behind the housing formula should be challenged at every stage.

What has Jackson Ng asked about infrastructure for new housing?
At the Growth, Infrastructure and Housing Select Committee in January 2026 he asked: “What is the quantified funding gap in pounds for Buckinghamshire?” He also asked what representations the council had made to central government to close the gap, and whether it had applied to funding pots, warning of overcrowded schools, overwhelmed GP surgeries and gridlocked roads.

Has Jackson Ng challenged how the housing target is calculated?
Yes. In March 2026 he told the Growth, Infrastructure and Housing Select Committee that, as residents and a local community group had put it to him, the Government's formula “does not quite reflect Buckinghamshire's actual demographic picture”, citing an ageing population, younger households moving away and infrastructure constraints. He asked whether the council had looked at commissioning independent demographic analysis.
