Meeting the National Farmers' Union

It was a pleasure to meet with representatives from the National Farmers’ Union to hear directly about the realities facing our local farming community.

We discussed the pressures farmers are under, from rising costs and regulatory changes to the wider impact of the Labour government policy on rural livelihoods.

I really value these conversations given the importance that the voices of those who manage our countryside and grow the food we depend on are properly understood and reflected in local and national decision making. I will always stand up for our hardworking farmers.
