On the record: where I stand

Transparency

Councillors must now declare fees and allowances from outside bodies. I put that amendment to Full Council, and it passed.

Where I stand

Transparency in local government matters to me. As Chairman of the Standards and General Purposes Committee in 2025/26, I put the amendment to Full Council that requires councillors to declare, in the register of interests, any fees or allowances from outside bodies they sit on because of their council role, all in one public place on the council’s website. It passed. The committee chose to act now rather than wait for a national code. I chaired in a non-partisan way so that every councillor had a voice, and I will keep pressing for transparency across the council and our town and parish councils.
