On the record: where I stand

Fire cover

Beaconsfield’s fire engine is called across borders more than any other station in the county. My motion to object to the cuts passed, 42 votes to 35.

Where I stand

Beaconsfield’s fire engine matters well beyond our town. The Fire Authority’s own data shows that nearly a third of cross-border fire engine attendances across the county relate to Beaconsfield, the highest of any station. With 158,000 more homes being imposed across the Fire Authority’s area, the risks are growing, not shrinking. I moved the motion at Full Council objecting to the cuts, and it passed, 42 votes to 35. I then challenged the Chief Fire Officer directly. I have full admiration for our firefighters, and I will keep making the case for greater fire engine capacity for Beaconsfield.
